FISC offers regularly scheduled and custom designed workshops that offer practical tips, hands-on forms, and positive steps you can take to make the most of your money. We really believe that if you know what to do, your financial dreams can come true.

Many of us never received good financial education in school or growing up in our homes. But, it is never too late to learn more.  FISC offers proven education that has helped thousands of people learn realistic strategies to improve their finances in a fun non-threatening environment. Why not try this out? You've got nothing to lose, except maybe some needless worries about money.

By the way, this is not "rocket science." You do not have to be a whiz with money to learn and
apply these tips. And they work. Listen to what one recent workshop attendee said:

"I went through your "The Power of Money" class. I thank you so much for your class. Today was the first day I was able to put money into my put and take savings account and I feel so good! Thank you so much for showing me that hey, it really does work!"

Meet the Bankruptcy Education Requirements: "Live a Richer Life"

Offered twice a month, this course meets the requirements for people filing bankruptcy that they complete a personal financial management workshop before they can be discharged from bankruptcy. Two hours long, includes helpful worksheets and book. Offered at multiple FISC office locations.

Get Checking

Get Checking helps people to be financially literate and to be informed users of mainstream financial products and services such as checking accounts. People that use alternative services, like check cashing services, pay hundreds of dollars a year more in fees than they would at a bank or credit union. Get Checking teaches "banking basics" through a three hour course. Graduates of the course who pass a competency test receive a certificate of completion, which is recognized by participating financial institutions.

People may have had a problem with their account in the past that was reported to Chex Systems, a national tracking system banks use to assess new account applications. If people satisfy their outstanding debt and their prior account was not closed due to fraud, participating financial institutions agree to open an account. Each participating institution may set special rules for Get Checking clients.

Here's a way to save money on check cashing fees and get back into the mainstream financial services. Interested? Contact FISC for more information on this 3 hour course at 886-1000.
