Offered twice a month, this course meets the requirements for people filing bankruptcy that they complete a personal financial management workshop before they can be discharged from bankruptcy. Two hours long, includes helpful worksheets and book. Offered at multiple FISC office locations.
How to Build a Budget That Works
Available at Menasha and Oshkosh FISC offices on scheduled basis. Teaches proven ways to build a budget or spending plan that works. Includes practical FISC worksheets. Ideally 60-75 minutes long, but can be done in less time. Great for lunch and learn. Get Checking helps people to be financially literate and to be informed
users of mainstream financial products and services such as checking
accounts. People that use alternative services, like check cashing services, pay hundreds of dollars a year more in fees
than they would at a bank or credit union. Get Checking teaches
"banking basics" through a six hour course. Graduates of the
course who pass a competency test receive a certificate of completion, which
is recognized by participating financial institutions. . Special workshops can be created to match the needs of most audiences. As a non-profit organization, we appreciate receiving an honorarium or donation. We’re happy to discuss workshop options.

This program identifies some of the challenges couples face in working together. Couples often have joint dreams and their own individual dreams, but may lack the financial resources to have and do everything. This workshop shares non-judgmental tools that can help couples communicate and build a realistic, balanced spending plan. 75 to 90 minutes
Understanding Credit Scores, Reports, and how to Improve Your Score Great program to help people understand how to access their free credit report, how to fix errors, how to enhance credit ratings, etc. 45 to 60 minutes
Managing Finances through Job Transitions. People who are facing unemployment have many concerns. This program identifies steps people can take to make the most of their money, identify resources they have, and avoid financial traps. This can be a short 15 minute overview or a full 90 minute workshop.
