The Fox Cities

Financial Makeover

Challenge

December 15, 2009 - April 15, 2010

The Fox Cities Financial Makeover Challenge is designed to help local families improve their financial situation.  Participants meet one-on-one with counselors from the Financial Information & Service Center, Inc. (FISC) to set goals and build strategies to increase their savings, reduce debt and reduce expenses over a four-month period, beginning December 15, 2009.

How it Works

Four families will be selected from a pool of applicants to work with FISC’s financial counselors.  They will meet on a regular basis to review their progress and make adjustments to their plan.  The family that comes the closest to meeting its goals will be selected as the winner of the Challenge.

Everyone Wins!

The winner will receive a cash prize of $1,000.  The other three families will each receive a cash prize of $250.  All of the families will receive the benefit of improving their financial situation.  Plus, their new habits and knowledge will benefit them forever.

Kevin and Lisa Mroczkowski of Appleton won the 2008-09 Challenge.  "I have learned so much from this program," Lisa said.  “It’s been life changing for me and my family."

The four families in the 2008-2009 Challenge all did very well.  In total, they paid off $13,586 in debt and accumulated $16,844 in new savings.
